Rodriguez batted a robust .565 with seven home runs, 11 runs batted in and nine runs scored during six games last week. He registered a 1.478 slugging percentage and a .630 on-base percentage.

The 11-time All-Star homered in his last five games of the week and had a monster series this past weekend in Kansas City, going 9-for-12 with four homers and six RBI in New York's three-game sweep.

For the season, Rodriguez leads the majors with 52 homers, 140 runs batted in and 132 runs scored.

Rodriguez was also honored as the league's top player on April 9 and June 13. He has now captured the weekly award 13 times in his career.

Other players considered this week included Yankees catcher Jorge Posada, who batted .500 with three homers; Tampa Bay's Carlos Pena, who belted four homers and drove in 10 runs; New York pitcher Chien-Ming Wang, was 2-0 with a 2.51 earned run average; Boston ace Josh Beckett, who was also 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA; and Cleveland's C.C. Sabathia, who also won two games with a brilliant 0.53 ERA.
